MarylandZoo.TV – A Day in the Life of an Animal Keeper

While it’s not a Folk Media Project, MarylandZoo.TV was Joel and Jordan’s first project together. They didn’t really know what they were doing at the time but they did have a lot of fun making the show and enjoying the company of countless animals.

If you haven’t seen the final episode of MarylandZoo.TV then now is the time to do so. Episode 10 is one of two episodes we are most proud of (we’ll talk about the other one later). This episode focuses on an Animal Keeper at the zoo that works in the farm area.

Or, watch the high quality version HERE.

My Soundscapes – Episode 001 – Centennial Park

In case you hadn’t noticed, we’re really moving. We’re happy to announce the completion of the first episode of My Soundscapes (previously named “Jordan’s Soundscapes”). The show is as simple and to-the-point as its name implies. If the idea of bite-sized soundscapes interests you then give it a listen.

Oh, and we recommend the use of headphones.

Mind Check – A new daily show for your mind.

One of the more interesting projects we’re working on is called Mind Check. It will be a daily (Monday to Friday) video podcast that offers up a quick riddle or quiz for you rack your brain on – possibly when you’re supposed to be working on other, less important things.

Mind Check will be nice and bite-sized with all episodes clocking in around the 1 minute mark. If you can figure out the answer and submit it the correct answer to us before the deadline you could be randomly picked to win a fancy shmancy prize. That’s something your favorite Nintendo DS brain game *doesn’t* offer you!

You can expect this podcast to pop up on the internet within the next few weeks.

Folk Media and Folk Media Network

At this point in time Folk Media is split into two main branches. This blog will keep you up to date on all of our production related news. Here you’ll find exclusive previews of upcoming podcasts, information on all of our shows, and special behind-the-scenes looks at what we do.

On the other hand, Folk Media Network will focus on building a community of new media creators and sharing resources. You’ll find training opportunities, tips, and helping hands. If you need someone to help you shoot next weekend, information on the latest HD Camcorders, or would like to pitch or discuss show ideas… this is the place to go.

We hope you take advantage of what both sites have to offer.

The Legend of Molehill Mountain

Folk Media was born from a video podcast on animals: MarylandZoo.TV. Recently, we began expanding the concept of that show and it has grown into what we call: The Legend of Molehill Mountain.

The show is distributed exclusively through GIMP.TV. Every episode is split into two parts. The standard content and the premium content. In other words, the standard could be viewed as a “teaser” of the full episode (the premium concent). The latter can be purchased for $1.99 through Gimp’s website.

Like MarylandZoo.TV, Molehill Mountain is an all ages educational show focused around animals and hosted by Joel Mark Witt.

By the way, we recommend putting your headphones on.
